A review, a review!
My kingdom for a review!
I worked as a teaching assistant for a Year 9 French class for one academic year. This was group tutoring for beginner level French. I have also done private one-on-one tutoring for a former ESOL student doing NCEA level English. I have lots of experience working with children, including babysitting, working as a live-in nanny (incl. helping children aged 9-14 with homework for all subjects), and working as a helper at a daycare (references available upon request).
When first meeting with a student, I always ask them what their personal academic goals are, and if they have a particular learning style that works best for them. I know from experience that everyone learns differently, and that lessons must be adjusted accordingly in order to make the best progress. Although I am one of the younger tutors on this site, I think having gone through NCEA so recently gives me an advantage because I understand the highly particular ways in which NCEA is assessed.
I am a very passionate learner (and teacher!). French is my specialty, as I have been studying it for over 8 years now, but I am equally confident teaching English (+other English-based subjects) to both native English speakers and ESOL students.
