About 5 years of experience tutoring high school and university students in maths, physics and statistics. Also have experience teaching in classrooms and helping students one on one at high schools as part of my teaching studies.
This really depends on the student. Some need to brush up on the material, in which case I normally spend at least the first half of an hour-long lesson explaining concepts and helping the student to write some notes which they can expand on later using their textbook or some other resource. We spend the rest of the time doing appropriate questions, starting with me demonstrating examples and working up to the student completing difficult questions on their own.
I have an honours degree in Maths and did several university papers in Physics, and I got NZQA Scholarship in calculus, stats and physics in year 13. Teaching these subjects is my passion and that is why I'm studying a post-grad degree in Education.
