A review, a review!
My kingdom for a review!
I have three years' experience as a volunteer tutor and mentor for students from low-income families. I have also studied education from an academic perspective as an undergraduate and postgraduate student. I am very familiar with the New Zealand education system and best practices for effective teaching.
Extensive reading, writing, and speaking is the cornerstone of effective literacy learning, and central to my approach to tutoring. Students can expect to read, talk, and write in every single tutoring session. For students with exams coming up, this will take place in the context of building a strong understanding of the course content and practising producing the kinds of writing required in the exam. I read the student's assigned texts to ensure I can provide appropriate support.
I am passionate about education, literature, and literacy. In 2019, I will be participating in the highly selective Teach First programme as an English teacher.
